Tax imbroglio-The first pizza hut experience
That was three years back when I was a newly admitted tdc
first year student .I don’t exactly remember
the date but what I remember was it was a holiday and my dear friend hrishikesh
proposed that we should hang around somewhere.I was ok with it since the day
was boring and finally we had decided to have a visit to dona planet which was
Hrishi’s decision . Want to know the reason why he decided to go there? Well he
finds a girl operating in a mobile store there extremely beautiful .okay,we
went there and before entering, something that caught our eyes was the board
that says that we can get a 3 course meal
in pizza hut only for rs 99.we looked at each other’s face and our
non-verbal communication came to the same conclusion that we should go for it.
And it was Interesting, we both had rs 100 each with us, not a single penny
more-not a single penny less. We were thankful to god at that point of time
thinking that we have made the cut. Well then we entered the pizza hut store
like we have been there for quite a few times before, stealing everyone’s
notice and ordered for that meal-the rs 99 magic pack(what it is
generally called).
We
were capturing photos of the plates, spoons, the menu , everything. We were
behaving like we are having our lunch in
some fairyland. While doing that we were greeted with two big cups of coke.i
was about to finish the whole at a stretch and suddenly something that stopped
me from doing that was the V.A.T to be added
to our price. within a minute I started
sweating like nothing else. i caught the matter to hrishi’s notice. Hrishi was
like-“o bey bhabai nasilu tax’r kotha,ki koru etiya??(yes dude,never gave it a
thought that we need to pay for the tax too, what should we do now?? ) hrishi
seemed terrified and I am not going to
lie, I was terrified too. We were checking out our pockets if by the grace of
god there was something in it, it happens sometime that we find some money in
our pockets that was kept earlier but on that day we had the perfect definition
of bad luck. we were searching for options and running away was quite a big joke. and then
there come the starters, pizzas still to come. on a normal day I would have
finished those starters in two or three crunches but that day we were taking as
much time as possible and we were running out of ideas even nothing would have
worked though. Before my brain had stopped working , it did a favour.i thought
we should call someone to help us.and my friend hrishi was thinking about the
same idea.but then again I felt like crying when my network showed not a single
bar.it was out of service.hrishi was trying again and again and I gave up hope
as we had the same network provider.i
was then imaging how I would look while cleaning the dishes, I had no
work to do. and suddenly hrishi screamed that his sister’s phone is ringing. my
heart light up at once. he told his sister about the problem we were facing and
misfortunes and by his reactions anyone can say he was getting scolded from the
other side, but but but…she agreed to come and bring in some money for us and
help from this situation.that would also mean we will have to spend another 2
hours there until she arrive.
We were done
with our starters and now we have our pizzas.it was worth looking our faces.we
felt like the time had ceased and we were running out of our pizzas..and
finally…his sister came..he went outside
and luckily he did not get a smack on his face, she paid him the money
and went away.that was a great relief and even then we had some of the stuffs
left to enjoy ourselves, after all that was our first pizza hut visit.we were
done, the bill came and yes there was the V.A.T included in it.but too our
amusement it was priced rs 94 a meal . we acknowledged the reduced price and
the money hrishi got from his sister went to his pocket. well, that was indeed a
terrible mess we had experienced and we both laugh thinking of those moments. we
have moments like those to enjoy today and laugh at ourselves. From then
onwards we are very careful before entering a restaurant and make sure we have
enough bucks and penny’s to pay for it.
